Thanks for purchasing a Romejko !
The Romejko is a chaotic image generator.
Unlike video synthesizers, it doesn’t rely on oscillators, encoders, or mixers. Instead, the fundamentals building blocks of this device are glyphs, colors, and controlled chaos.
This manual will guide you through its features and quirks, so that you can harness its power and take over the world.
Plug the micro USB input to a 5V power source. This can be a phone charger, a computer, or a USB hub.
Plug the VGA output to a screen, using a VGA cable

Now you should see colorful characters scrolling on the screen.
If that’s not the case, check that he device is properly powered and that you screen is turned on.
<aside> ☝ If you are stuck, try again, think about it a bit, check everything twice (cables, power, screen …) and maybe eventually contact @les_hauts on Instagram for help. If you built your Romejko yourself from the DIY kit, it’s most probably on you !

At any given time, the Romejko is generating a stream of glyphs, accumulating from left to right and from bottom to top, just like a computer terminal.
Glyphs are taken from “Code Page 437”, which is an historical set of 256 characters that includes all letters of the alphabet, numbers, some icons, and many other things that computers used to combine to create “terminal” interfaces (aka TUI). Each glyph has its own background, which is a solid rectangle that surrounds it.
